I spy... Austria Wien (III)

Things to know about Austria Wien
Last season: 2nd in the Austrian Bundesliga
Qualified through: League position, 2nd round
Coach: Karl Daxbacher
Star: Junuzovic, Tomas Jun
Links to Örebro: Örebro beat Austria in Vienna in the 1996 Intertoto Cup, 3-2, a win that secured a group victory for Örebro
Comment: Another Austrian team on decline, but here the decline is perhaps less steep but rather an evolvement over time.  The team has lost financial striking power since major sponsor Magna left the club, but was still in the run for the league title during the last day of the season and have qualified for European play for ten consecutive years.  As late as 2005, the team played in the quarterfinals of the UEFA cup, losing on away goals to Parma.  It was after that that Magna’s involvement decreased, to finally expire in 2008.  The team has an impressive history with more than 20 league titles and players like Prohaska, Polster, Vastic and until recently Acimovic.
This is how we beat them: Huge rivals are Rapid Wien, and again I do believe I can round up some local support for Örebro in Vienna.  Austrian does not look as dangerous as Red Bull, but almost. But in four games against Swedish teams in the club’s history, they have never won.
Chance of Örebro winning: 35-40%
